Evangelical Church

Oh, i listened to Tina Turner's Nutbush City Limit. I honestly did not really enjoy the song, probably because it was a classic rock song, a genre that Elvis Presley specialises in. Strange to say this but i love Elvis!

One of my sheep, Jia Ming, suddenly went disappearing for 2 days. Only to realise that it is because he is gaming whole day long and didn't realise that his phone is ringing. On monday, on tenterhooks, i instant message Chit Ming online, to check whether he is still in contact with Jia Ming. Only to realise that he has not been in touch with Jia Ming for a long time already. We prayed for him online, guess what, he replied for the first time in 2 days on msn. What a relief! Got his house number too. :)

I am recently planning for the mission trip to Batu Pahat, excited yet worried. I am thrilled by all the experiences that i am going to gain during the trip. Prayerfully, it can add to the foundation of church planting.

It is important to go church planting, especially if you call yourself God's children. I thank God for Hope Singapore who specially has a conference of long term mission, in hope to inspire and motivate the younger generation to break out of the 4 walls of Singapore.

If you are still hesitating, hesitate no more! Evangelism to the world is not a choice, it is a must. Furthermore, it clearly shows your love for people. If you can just love Malaysians and Singaporeans, you are not as loving as you may have thought yourself to be, you are just a loving Singaporean or Malaysians, because you love people of your own kind only. Look what Jesus did, He loved the Samaritan who is not an Israelite, His own kind, most importantly He loves you, who is not of His own kind as well!

Genesis 12:1
1 The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.

In immediate obedience, Abraham leaves his comfort zone and his family to the promised land.

Genesis 12:4-5

4 So Abram left, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran. 5 He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.

Look what Paul says about preaching the gospel. I will not include the great commission in the list, since you all are so familiar with it

Romans 15:20-21
20It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else's foundation. 21Rather, as it is written: "Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand."

Psalms 19:4
Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun

Mark 16:15
He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

There are so many more verses that talk about that. Prayerfully, it changes your mindset about evangelism

You may think, "I am too young to go for church planting right now, wait till i learn more of God, then i go"

This thought is garbage to me, you don't need a lot of knowledge to go. Yes, it may be true that financially we are all unable to do so currently. But, here is one thing you can do.

GO FOR MISSION TRIP!

Why?
1) See a burden to share to other people
2) Know what is it like to be part of the team to add strength to the field workers there
3) Learn from experience
4) It is not too expensive
5) Won't be too much to bear for you

I encourage all of you who are reading this blog, to go! If your parents disallow, pray! God will open a way for us. Let's really see this kingdom of God coming to pass!

Matthew 24:14
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Great learning experience

Woah. So excited! Waiting for my clip to be rendered complete. I am indulging in reading blog during my free time.

Great day on saturday, i was instructed by Debra in a Changi Airport STAR training program. At first, i am very quiet. Now, it seems a bit off for me to keep my mouth shut, i am consistently urged to talk, for some reason.

I dunno whether it is part of God's plan, but i am called by Debra to be in the demonstration of a "self introduction". Interesting, i have always been doing it in church, however, stunningly, i am at a loss of words because i didn't expect myself to be called on, maybe my name, "John" is not too difficult to pronounce. Haha

After the demonstration, it seems that the whole room knows who i am, during the time of mingling around, i don't have to be initiative, people keep coming to me. Then, i form a group with 9-11 malays with 2 indians. Gosh, i am taken aback, personally, i have a phobia towards malays, and to think now have to lead the malay group. I was called to represent the group to answer this question, "what benefit would i gain if i were a world class airport". I don't know how to answer in the beginning, but everything that the church and the bible teaches me, i threw it out during the presentation. Wow, Debra is really impressed, i was cheered on by a whole big group of Kallang Wave behind, what a sporty group of people! I really want to see i happening in my group. :)

The experience is great, during tea break. Debra came to me and say, "You did a great job". I was wowed! I really thank God for the church, it helps me a lot in my presentation skills, and the motivation to charge the people. The team and i went all around Changi Airport to take pictures, the malays really cooperate well. As a leader, i don't need to do much, i just say one thing, and they will organise themselves, and move together. Through this, i really see the unity of the malays, the willingness to give in to one another. I really want to see it in the church as well. Let's move to see it together.

Romans 12:16
16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.[c] Do not be conceited.

Psalms 133:1
1 How good and pleasant it is
when brothers live together in unity!

To sum it up, unity makes a difference. Two men work better than 1 man.

Deuteronomy 32:30
30 How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up?

Oh, currently in my lab slacking. Have get 20% of my scene done, guess i will do the remaining 80% in the next 2 days. I am profoundly thrilled by what i have gone through thus far in my life.

Yesterday, Shareen, Celestine and I went to sell goodies bag to the people wandering around East Coast. The 3 of us swept the whole Bedok Jetty, we asked almost every single person who was standing by the side. Some of the people look fierce, but we just approached them anyway. Inquisitive glances were thrown, not at us, but to the things we were carrying. We prayed and had a desire to see that we finished selling 15 goodies bag by 12. We were left with 2 goodies bag, we approached a big group of Malaysians who were chilling out at a bench, seemingly having a picnic. The loudest woman of the group first said, "Can the whole group of us just get 1 goodies bag?". Our answer to them is definitely. Then, one male by the side was saying, "can i get one of it as well." He bought it and then wanted to change it to a pink cap. We went back to exchange the cap for him. When we come back, they wanted another goodies bag because they like the cap, we went back again, and took one for them. Again, they wanted another one, haha. We made a total of 3 rounds. Not only did we manage to finish selling 15 goodies bag by 12, we sold a total of 17 packets! Praise God!

I was watching Pokemon yesterday before i went to work. I watched the episode which talks about a ninetales who have been living 200 years for it's master to come back. It brought me to think about the eternal life that God has given us, we might not have to wait 200 years for His return, but we are returning to Him in the end.

Hope Run Tomorrow

Realize that i run out of title to put in my post, luckily the title won't be reflected on the computer screen. Haha.

Have a chat with Shelia on MSN now, she has been growing very well in God. She stands firm in her faith, displayed holy anger when people badmouths God. I can really see that soon, she will be a woman that can be greatly used by God. 2 years ago, i can still clearly remember that she is still someone that badmouths church, now she is defending against people who badmouths Jesus, what a massive turnaround! LOL! It brings back so many memories, haha. Zheng Ming and her are my only classmates, that i can truly trust and share. They are the ones who never abandon me and accept me as who i am. Thank God for them.

1 Peter 5:8-9
8Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

Yeah, today my unit went to watch fireworks, i can say it is absolutely amazing, to some of the people, but not to me. I find it extremely dull. Yet, interesting things is taking place during DMM. Hui Mei shared about the importance of having a spiritual descendant. It brings a conviction in my heart, eh, i don't want to move on just like that, and let the generation of Wei Hong dies, then at the end, there is a need to re-pioneer. I have a desire to see more and more me around the campus, with a heartbeat to go for mission. I want to see people moving right with God, going around the world, proclaiming the good news. I am excited for this journey and the new generation that is coming along. :)

Genesis 1:28
28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

New Blogskin

Yo! Just change to a Naruto Blogskin. Actually, i wanted to put the prince of tennis rikkaidai picture, but i couldn't get a picture that suit the font color, so i gave up my search.

How is the blogskin? I pray it is nice, there is my favorite anime character Naruto inside. Thought of adding American Idol inside also, but later i guess. Wow, finally a blog that is not so plain, i want to get pictures to put inside the welcome part, if you have any good pictures, please send it to me.

Wow, finish rigging my character, touching on my scene currently, wasn't really busy in here also. Chatted with Jey, pretty interesting guy to talk with, call me a "Pet". Duh >-<

Just kidding, tomorrow is service again, pray for visitors to come. Benjamin has been doing pretty well in this kingdom, Praise God. Pray that he can be a disciple soon, and fulfill the great commission that Christ has called us to. Benjamin -> If you are reading this, i am urging you to haste your growth. :)

Many thanks to God who has been watching over me during the days i have been walking on the dry and weary land, He has really proven Himself as a stream of living water, whoever goes to Him will never get thirsty, be satisfied with what we have now, and God will be faithful, one day, you will see the promised land God has in store for you.

John 4:14
but those who drink the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

Isaiah 12:3
With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
"Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you"

Unity + love with one another
10:56 PM | 0 comments

Toiling on my project right now. Arh! Can't wait for holidays to come, have been anticipating for it.

Yesterday, we went to play captain's ball at the hockey pitch. This is the first time i have played sports this year. Oh no, i sound very unhealthy, but i'm loving it. I hate all kinds of physical stuffs, except walking. Walking helps me very well in my reflection for the day and as well as my relationship with God. We played for a while yesterday, then went for dinner at AMK. Being involved in caregroup activity is very important, it builds up the unity of the group, as everyone comes together and share about their life, supporting one another, bearing with one another in love.

Ephesians 4:16

16From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

As i grow spiritually mature in God, i realized that i am able to accept people more readily. I love to see a caregroup with people of all kinds of personality. This will greatly help in building up their love strong for people, as they have to love people who they will never thought of loving when they are a non-christian. Loving people with God's lenses is more valuable and treasured in the eyes of God, rather than just repenting to God with no accompanied action.

1 Peter 4:8

8Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

1 Corinthians 13:1

1If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

Isaiah 1:11

11 "The multitude of your sacrifices—
what are they to me?" says the LORD.
"I have more than enough of burnt offerings,
of rams and the fat of fattened animals;
I have no pleasure
in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.

Let's really dare to show love for one another. With love, we actually save ourselves from a multitude of sins, with love, we will trust and not lie, with love, coveting/murdering will not take place at all. With love, jealousy will turn to joy that the other party will do well. We have the ability to slightly change our perception of people, things might not be that bad. If you find that you loathe people especially brothers and sisters, the love of God has yet to deeply penetrate your heart. Accept God, and His love. You will realize that giving in to the other party without compromising the biblical principles is actually easy. :)

1 John 4:20-21
20If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.21And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.
Yeah, so lets embrace each other deeply. 3 bears/bares to do so

1) Bare our hearts
Don't hide from people, share your problems to people you are closed with. There's no such thing as being independent in the eyes of God

2) Bear Hug
Be closely embraced with one another. Close proximity!

3) Bear with one another
Embrace each other's weaknesses. Encourage and motivate! Don't be too overly acidic in your words.

Ephesians 4:2
bear with one another in love

Conclusion
If you find there are a lot of differences between you and a brother/sister. Always use this similarity to love. All of us die in God, we are one body in Christ. Imagine you are the eyes and hate the ears, are you able to survive without the other?

1 Corinthians 12:14-26

14Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. 15If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 16And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 17If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

21The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" 22On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Thank God for everyone who participate in the game as well!

A race that i can't lose
9:57 AM | 0 comments

Today is a extremely exciting day for me. I went to harbor front to meet Jia Ming, and later i went for the Hope Resource meeting. There are a few points that i learn from Jean (a sister from the adult group)
- no words that imply negativity
like "wa lau", "shit", "die le", "oh my god", "damn"
all these words imply lack of faith and it don't build people up.
Ephesians 4:29
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."
- take pride in whatever we are doing, we are the ambassadors of Hope Resource
Colossians 3:23-24
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving"

As i was browsing through the bible today, i read this verse which is very interesting, and what we so often do
Titus 3:9
"But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless."
A lot of times, we are so caught up with investigating the laws, is the law still applicable to us after Jesus die on the cross and so many things. Yet, we forget that ultimately obedience to the scriptures are far more important than all these.
John 15:7
"If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you."

These are my recent learnings. Pray that everything will run well tomorrow. Anyway, choosing the right words to speak is part of wisdom as well, it is biblical. We can see it from

Ecclesiastes 12:10
"The Teacher searched to find just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true. "

If speaking with the right words is unwise, King Solomon will not be the wisest king at that time already.

Memories

Memories in the corner of my heart.... *quoted from "The Way We Were" By Barbara Streisand*

I can't forget all the good things in my life. What kind of life my Heavenly Father has put me through these days. I want to give a sincere heartfelt thanks to You because not only have you bestowed on me an eternal life, but also Your love and Your perfect plan as well.

*Starts past*

Days are getting closer to my 2nd year in church. I can still vividly remember my 1st day in church. How Kar Shun followed up on me and gave me 4 dollars to get my 1st mp3. Haha. I owe it all to him, without him, i will never be able to know a savior who is out there reaching out to me.

From that day onwards, things have changed dramatically. When i first step into church, i wonder who is Jesus Christ. It is true Leslie and Kar Shun has shared a fair deal about Him, but i am still "blur" about this person. I dislike praise and worship because i don't know what i am singing, and what i sing, does not come from my heart. I do it for the sake of doing it. I dunno what is shepherd or all the "Ls". Even after i know of it, i don't aspire to be one because it is a waste of time. Haha

My heart is changed drastically after my shepherd Andrew birthed out into his own caregroup. I can still remember days when Ken, myself and Andrew have to spend time with each other. Well, it builds quite a strong bond. Haha.

*Ends past*

I have overnight shepherding with Leslie on friday. He is really a man of God's Word. He go into details with all his teachings. He uses the Word Of God to explain to me certain principles and why we do certain things. I learn from him that as leaders, there are so many things we can do.

Oh ya. Sanada wins Tezuka, I am so ecstatic!

This is the year one picture of Sanada, Yukimura and Yanagi. The 3 demons of Rikkaidai. Just love them!
